It's ladies month!!!! March, the time we celebrate all women no matter who you are or where you come from. Time to stand proud and be proud to be a WOMEN.
I only found it right that we talk about the most influential females in the fashion industry, with it being March. Not only do these women produce fabulous clothing but they are badass women who have evolved our world of fashion! From Coco Chanel, to Rei Kawakuboo, all the way to The Olsen Twins, there are women all over the fashion world that are making their mark. Old comers are still present and new comers are emerging, and that it why I love the fashion industry so much. With these ladies expressing their selves, they are producing things that allow us, women, to express ourselves, I find that so interesting when I truly sit and think about it. Let's take a look at the past and present when it comes to come of the most influential names in fashion, female edition!
Our old comers go back to Jeanne Lanvin who was popular in the 1920s for being ahead of her time and expanding her line of fashion to do active wear, swimwear, and fragrances. For this part of time, this was so innovated and Lanvin was way ahead of her time. She took the world of fashion by storm and started to produce her clothing for department stores. We can't forget about the amazing Coco Chanel. Chanel is known for creating staples that will last forever and as we know, these items truly do last forever. Coco was the definition of being a powerful women. She started her career during World War I and created the first ever shorter and easier pieces during a very interesting time in history. Chanel expanded her career to perfume and is most well known for the beautiful sent of Chanel No. 5.
The 60s were a time when it comes to basically everything. Mary Quant is known for creating the famous miniskirt. Quant found her inspiration from the streets that surrounded her. She wanted something that females could move in and move freely in. She created a piece of clothing that was somewhat controversial for being "short." Elsa Peretti is known for her revolutionary take on jewelry. She brought sophistication to the world of fashion by working with some of the most well known jewelers in the industry. Peretti work is still iconic today, she has work that is still present in the world of Tiffany.
Next up is Miuccia Prada, who took over the brand from her grandfather and changed it into the fashion hotness it is today. Prada had a PH. D in political science and was determined to change the face of fashion. She went on to create the brand Mui Mui and is still a badass women for the face of fashion. Of course there is one of the most iconic names in fashion, Diane Von Furstenberg. She is a legend in the fashion world for her creation of the wrap dress. DVF has continued to grow her brand and her work can be seen in many stores around the world. She does amazing work when it comes to working with charities and even has the DVF Awards!
Next comes Betsey Johnston and the famous Stella McCartney. Johnston creates fun and over-the-top dresses that truly are original. She isn't afraid to show her off her style on the streets and within her clothing line. Stella McCartney is famous for her animal friendly line that extends from clothing, shoes, all the way too purses. She is an icon and amazing animal activist in the world of fashion. Her line contains high end and chic clothing.
Today, there are so many women who are up in coming in the world of fashion. The Olsen twins have made their mark with their line called The Row. This boho inspired line is so chic and has so many amazing pieces that every women in fashion want to own. In 2015 they were named women designers of the year, go them! The truly do have a unique look that is idolized in the world of fashion.
Fashion is away that we, as women, can express ourselves. We are so lucky to have so many unreal designers that allow us to express ourselves in so many different ways. Let's celebrate the amazing things woman have done and continue to do. Go out, be that badass, and be proud to be FEMALE.
